VCDS: Unsupported vehicle. Please upgrade to a current Ross-Tech interface

If you're seeing this message reported by Ross-Tech's VCDS software, it's a result of 2 different factors:
  • The USB interface (lead which connects to the car) is a HEX+CAN, HEX-USB, Micro-CAN or KII-USB. These interfaces are unfortunately discontinued products and are not able to talk to many systems on newer cars
  • You're trying to diagnose a 2017 or newer car

Due to some major changes in the way VW Audi Group implemented their diagnostic systems, Ross-Tech's earlier generation VCDS interfaces aren't able to talk to all systems on 2017 and newer cars.

The first known problem vehicles are the following:
  • 2016+ Audi Q7 (Rest-of-World) Chassis 4M (2017+ North American Region chassis F7)
  • 2016+ Audi A4 B9 (Rest-of-World) chassis 8W (2017+ North American Region chassis F4)
  • 2017+ models (including all MQB-A0 cars such as the SEAT Ibiza KJ)

The number of VAG cars using these new systems increased in 2018 and currently all 2019 Model Year onwards cars require a new generation Ross-Tech VCDS interface.

The new interfaces offered by Ross-Tech are the following:

VCDS HEX-V2 - USB connection to a PC and direct replacement for HEX+CAN-USB

VCDS HEX-NET – USB and WiFi connection capabilities. Works with VCDS Mobile for quick scans using a mobile phone or iPad. Also includes coverage of VAG-based Lamborghini cars.

Upgrade Trade-In discounts are available, please contact us for more details and support.

Here's a link to Ross-Tech's current interface range and pricing. These new interfaces support cars from about 1996 up to current model year.
