This upgrade is for unregistered, second-hand owners of VIN-limited Ross-Tech® HEX-V2® or HEX-NET® VCDS® interfaces who wish to add additional VINs to their interface limit.
The price is a special bundle deal offered by Ross-Tech, which includes:
Ownership Transfer - registration for support with Ross-Tech as the new owner of a previously registered interface. This is required to be eligible for a VIN license upgrade and is usually £99 if bought separately
The VCDS interfaces have a tier system for VIN licenses - buying this upgrade will move your interface VIN limit up by one tier: HEX-V2:3-VIN > upgrade > 10-VIN > upgrade > Unlimited HEX-NET:10-VIN > upgrade > Unlimited
(So should you wish to upgrade from a 3-VIN interface to an Unlimited license, you would also need to purchase a second VIN upgrade separately)
Please note, this upgrade does not apply to interfaces which already have an unlimited VIN license, or the earlier generation HEX-USB / HEX-COM / Micro-CAN / KII-USB interfaces.
Prerequisites and Important Notes
Both the registration and the VIN upgrade have to be approved by Ross-Tech before being applied. This may cause a delay of up to 2 working days for the process to complete.
In order to process the upgrade you will need to confirm:
- the Short Serial Number of your interface (HNx-xxxxxx / H1x-xxxxxx) from the label on the interface
- the Long Serial Number of your interface (displayed in the 'About' page of the VCDS software)
You will need to submit a registration request for your HEX-V2 or HEX-NET interface with Ross-Tech once we have processed your order and contacted you - the re-registration must be completed before the VIN Upgrade feature code can be supplied.
Once the upgrade is approved, we and/or Ross-Tech will supply you with a 'feature code'. We will supply this code to you by email, so please ensure your email address is valid and you check it regularly after your purchase
This feature code must be activated within 7 calendar days
(including weekends)
(Failure to activate within this time may result in additional charges to re-issue a code)
The code is activated online within the VCDS Interface Config utility - part of the VCDS software. Therefore you must have access to a Windows PC and the internet to activate the upgrade
The VIN upgrade is an upgrade to your interface's license, and does not affect previously stored vehicle VINs. If you are upgrading from a 3-VIN to 10-VIN license, it will upgrade the number you are able to store from 3 to 10, i.e. an additional 7 VINs available.
